The pink fabric in this quilt pleaded to come home with me while on a quilty trip with my friends. I searched for 3 years to find a suitable second colour as everything overwhelmed the lushness of the pink. This is a quilt I wanted to make just for myself but it was quilted at 16 stitches to the inch and was finished about the time entries were going in for 2 juried shows. The first show had well known and respected quilters as judges and it received the best hand quilting prize with the comments 'Confident use of subtle but sumptuous colours, Lovely hand quilting'.
The second show the quilt was juried out where the judge was a Dr of textiles and had the comments 'This work was admirably hand quilted but the choice of fabrics was disappointing'
Moral of the story - when entering quilts into juried shows make sure the judge has some knowledge of traditional quilting!!
